Ph.D Agnieszka Sołtys

General information

Ph.D Agnieszka Sołtys received a Ph.D in legal sciences, cum laude, at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University; she completed post-graduate studies in European law at the University of Oxford; studied at the Hague Academy of International Law and at the University of Utrecht; she is an attorney-at-law (radca prawny) – completed legal apprenticeship at the Bar of Legal Advisors, Warsaw branch and passed the bar exam (placed 3rd among 130 candidates); before joining the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Science for many years she worked in an international law firm, in Warsaw and Brussels.

In 2016 Ph.D Agnieszka Sołtys received the distinction in the prestigious competition, organized by „Państwo i Prawo”, for the best doctoral and postdoctoral dissertation awarded for her doctoral dissertation: „The obligation to interpret national law in accordance with EU law as an instrument to ensure the effectiveness of European Union law”.

Ph.D Agnieszka Sołtys is the author of a number of publications in the field of EU law and expert opinions for public institutions (including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland).

Ph.D Agnieszka Sołtys is a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a member of the audit committee of the Polish Association for European Law (an association operating within the framework of the International Federation for European Law (FIDE)).

As a part of ongoing research work, Ph.D Agnieszka Sołtys participates, among others, in publication works on “System Prawa Unii Europejskiej” (Beck) and research carried out under the grant NCN 2017/27/B/HS5/03043: European constitutionalism. Pluralistic concept of the relation between EU and national law in case law. The head of the grant project is Prof. Andrzej Wróbel. Ph.D Agnieszka Sołtys has also been appointed as a national rapporteur for the XXIX FIDE Congress (The Hague, 2020), with the Topic 1: “National Courts and the Enforcement of EU Law”
