Biographical note

Prof. Andrzej Wróbel is a professor of legal sciences since 2002. He commenced his professional career in 1976 at the Chair of Administrative Law and Administration Science of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. Head of the Chair of European Law at the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences from 2004. Chairman of the Institute’s Scientific Council from 2009 to 2010. Judge of the Supreme Court at the Labour Law, Social Security and Public Affairs Chamber from 1994 to 2011 and from 2017 to 2018. Judge of the Constitutional Tribunal from 2011 to 2016. Member of the Legislative Council from 2003 to 2006. Chairman of the Programme Council of the National Centre for Training the Staff of Common Courts and Public Prosecution from 2006 to 2008. In 2005 Deputy Chairman of the European Law Team established by the Minister of Justice.

Head of research projects: No. 2017/27/B/HS5/03043 European constitutionalism. A pluralistic concept of the relationship between EU and national law in judicial decisions (2018-2021); No. 2014/13/B/ HS5/00528 National and constitutional identity of a European Union Member State (2015-2018); No. N N110194334 Ensuring the effectiveness of judgments of international courts in the Polish legal order (2008-2010).

Editor-in-chief of the “Europejski Przegląd Sądowy” (European Judicial Review) from 2005 to 2011; Editor-in-chief of the “Państwo i Prawo” (“State and Law”) and of the “Anti-discrimination Law Review”.

Participant of the Polish-German Colloquium of Lawyers-Administrativists since 1984. Author of over 250 scholarly writings on administrative law and administrative proceedings, as well as on European law.
