General information
Ph.D in Law (Hons), MA in Law, MA in Philosophy, Advanced Certificate in Research Ethics.
I am generally interested in the processes happening at the verge of normative systems and cutting edge scientific research. While research drives humanity forward, having a potential to solve many problems of the current world, it is the role of law and ethics to facilitate scientific progress on one hand and provide for safety and protection of crucial values on the other. This is of particular importance in the field of life sciences – my main area of interest. In research I tend focus on patent law, as the branch of law having a particularly strong connection to innovation in many areas of human endeavour. My other areas of interest encompass biosafety regulations in connection to genetic engineering and new plant breeding techniques, and research ethics. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of my studies I often to collaborate with specialists in other fields than law, in particular: philosophy, biotechnology or agriculture.
I am currently working with Prof. Helena Żakowska-Henzler and Ph.D Żaneta Pacud on a research project titled “Patent Protection of Inventions Concerning Human Body and the Fundamental Rights”. I am also working on a project: “New Plant Breeding Techniques from the Point of View of GMO Legislation and Patent Law”, whose goal is to analyse the legal classification of organisms developed through so called new plant breeding techniques, from the point of view of provisions that regulate the use of genetically modified organisms in the EU. Besides I have a statutory activity topic devoted to patentability of animals.
