International IP conference – 17.10.2019 – “Trade Secrets in Theory and Practice”
The Institute of Law Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences is organizing an international IP conference entitled “Trade Secrets in Theory and Practice”. The conference will take place on 17 October 2019 at Nowy Świat 72 in Warsaw.
The conference is primarily dedicated to harmonization of trade secrets protection in the European Union resulting from adoption of the Directive 2016/943 on the protection of undisclosed know-how and business information (trade secrets) against their unlawful acquisition, use and disclosure.
The conference will focus on selected aspects of trade secret protection the national, regional (EU) and international perspective. Below please find a non-exhaustive list of issues to be considered at the conference:
- trade secrets as a part of intellectual property protection – similarities and differences between protection of IPRs and trade secrecy, relations between both systems and their meaning for innovation;
- theoretical approaches to protection of trade secrets – misappropriation and access theories;
- requirements for trade secrets’ protection;
- trade secrets and employee mobility;
- trade secrets in judicial and mediation procedures.
Scholars, students and practitioners interested in protection of trade secrets are encouraged to contribute to the conference and/or to attend the event.
The call for papers is open now – the deadline for submission of presentation proposals is June 15, 2019.
We kindly ask you to send the title and abstract of your presentation – up to 400 words – together with your affiliation and a short bio to: tradesecrets@inp.pan.pl. Paper selections will be announced on July 30, 2019. Selected papers will be published in the form of a monograph.
Registration for the conference will be open from September 1, 2019.
